Location will play a factor.

In my state, Missouri, my clients are paying bookkeepers anywhere from $25 to $45.00 per hour.

This range generally holds true whether it’s a one-person accounting department or working under a controller.

In a one-person department, you’ll have more duties (that’s just the way it is), so you might be able to negotiate a higher rate.

Depends on the size of the company - this is the main criterion.

The average hourly wage for a bookkeeper in the United States is $20, but bookkeeper rates can vary from $18 to $23 per hour.
